“What is night for all living beings is the time of awakening for the self-controlled sage. And what is the time of awakening for all beings is night for the wise muni.”

For ordinary beings, the supreme reality (Brahman) is like night—unknown and dark. But the self-controlled sage is awake to this truth. For the sage, the world of duality is like night—false and illusory, while worldly people are fully awake in it.
