Verse 2.12 : Sankhya Yoga "Transcendental Knowledge"
Verse 12 of 72
“
The Translation
“Never was there a time when I did not exist, nor you, nor all these kings; nor in the future shall any of us cease to be.”
Commentary & Insights
Krishna introduces the concept of the eternal nature of individual consciousness. He states that both He, Arjuna, and all the kings on the battlefield have always existed in the past, and will always exist in the future. The body changes, but the conscious self (Atman) is beginningless and endless. This directly refutes the idea that death is the end of existence.

2.12
न त्वेवाहं जातु नासं न त्वं नेमे जनाधिपाः
Bhagavan teaches the plurality of bodies but the unity of the Self. While the bodies appear different, the underlying consciousness (Atman) is one and eternal. The birth and death of individuals are appearances in the ocean of consciousness.
