The Translation

“From anger arises delusion; from delusion comes confusion of memory. From confusion of memory comes the ruin of intellect; and from the ruin of intellect, a person is utterly ruined.”

Commentary & Insights

Krishna completes the psychological chain: from anger comes delusion, leading to loss of memory, destruction of intellect, and final ruin.

Practical Application
1

When you feel frustration rising today, pause immediately. Do not speak or write an email until you have cooled down, breaking the chain of anger before it leads to delusion.

Self-Reflection Prompts
  • Reflect on a time when you made a decision in anger. Did you experience the loss of memory of your values in that moment? What was the outcome?
  • How can you create a 'gap' of time between feeling angry and responding, to protect your intellect?
