The Translation
“Neither by the study of the Vedas, nor by penance, nor by charity, nor by ritualistic worship can I be seen in this form as you have seen Me.”

नाहं वेदैर्न तपसा न दानेन न चेज्यया
These methods are useful for purifying the mind (sattva-shuddhi). However, they are all dualistic actions. The non-dual Brahman cannot be seen as an object of these actions. It is revealed only when these activities culminate in the cessation of all ego-efforts.
