The Translation

“Seeing Your mouths, terrifying with fangs, resembling the fires of cosmic dissolution, I lose all sense of direction and find no shelter. Have mercy, O Lord of gods, O Sanctuary of the universe!”

Commentary & Insights

Arjuna looks at the fanged mouths of the Cosmic Form, which resemble the destructive fires of cosmic dissolution. Disoriented and terrified, he pleads for mercy.

Practical Application
1

When disoriented by a task or conflict today, stop working for 5 minutes. Go to a quiet space, breathe slowly, and regain your mental center before proceeding.

Self-Reflection Prompts
  • What does it mean to 'lose all sense of direction' (*diśo na jāne*) in a spiritual crisis? How is this confusion the starting point for receiving true direction from the Divine?
  • Why does Arjuna address Krishna as 'Jagannivasa' (Abode of the universe) while begging Him to have mercy? How is the one who terrifies us also our only home?
