The Translation

“Sanjaya said: Having heard these words of Keshava, the crowned one (Arjuna), with folded hands and trembling, offered salutations. Bowing down again, he spoke to Krishna in a faltering voice, overwhelmed with fear.”

Commentary & Insights

Sanjaya describes Arjuna's reaction to Krishna's speech: trembling with terror and choked with emotion, the crowned prince bows down and speaks in a faltering voice.

Practical Application
1

Allow yourself to be authentic and vulnerable in your communications today: if you feel choked or emotional, do not suppress it; express it honestly.

Self-Reflection Prompts
  • Why does our voice choke (sa-gadgadam) when we experience something truly sublime or overwhelming? How does this physical reaction reflect the limits of human language?
  • How does Arjuna's trembling (vepamānaḥ) show that true spiritual surrender is not a mental concept, but a total physiological experience?
