“The Supreme Lord said: This form of Mine which you have seen is exceedingly difficult to behold. Even the gods are constantly longing to see this form.”

श्रीभगवानुवाच
The gods are caught up in their roles and qualities (sattva). They see the Lord in His parts. The vision of the undivided cosmic Self (Brahman) is extremely rare, and even the gods desire it because it represents the final liberation from all relative states.
