Verse 1.7 : Arjuna Vishada Yoga "The Grief of Arjuna"
“Know also, O best of the twice-born, those who are the most distinguished among us, the leaders of my army. I name them for your information.”
Having detailed the enemy's strength, Duryodhana shifts to listing his own forces to rebuild his confidence and motivate Drona. He addresses Drona as Dvijottama (best of the twice-born/Brahmins). Drona was a Brahmin by birth but a warrior by profession. By calling him Dvijottama, Duryodhana subtly flatters his superiority while reminding him of his duty to protect those who seek refuge in him.
Notice if you are over-explaining or trying to control a situation today out of an underlying feeling of insecurity.
- Do you find yourself listing your qualifications or assets when you feel insecure? What would it look like to face a challenge with quiet, internal self-assurance instead?
- Reflect on the title 'best of the twice-born.' How does spiritual rebirth or moral awakening change a person's perspective on life's battles?

Duryodhana's speech is diplomatic. He addresses Drona with respect, yet his underlying intent is to ensure Drona does not hold back out of affection for the Pandavas.
