Verse 1.6 : Arjuna Vishada Yoga "The Grief of Arjuna"

Duryodhana concludes his survey of the Pandava forces. He highlights the mighty Panchala princes Yudhamanyu and Uttamauja; Abhimanyu, the teenage son of Arjuna and Subhadra (Krishna's sister); and the five sons of Draupadi (the Upapandavas). He terms them all maharathas.

Abhimanyu and the Upapandavas represent the youthful, future promise of righteousness. They represent hope, energy, and the continuation of good values. Duryodhana's acknowledgment that they are all maharathas shows his deep respect—and fear—of the next generation of righteous leaders.

Inheriting and passing down noble values to the next generation is vital. The youth represent the continuation of the battle against injustice. This verse highlights the power of young minds armed with training and moral standing, capable of acting as great protectors of truth.
