The Translation

“An increase in unwanted progeny drags both the family destroyers and the family itself to hell. Their ancestors also fall, being deprived of offerings of food and water.”

Commentary & Insights

Arjuna describes the spiritual consequences of family breakdown. In Vedic tradition, descendants perform rituals (pinda-dan and tarpan) to support their ancestors' souls. Arjuna warns that when family structures collapse and lineages are confused, these rituals will cease, causing the ancestors to fall from their spiritual status.

Practical Application
1

Confront your fear of consequences by focusing on doing what is right and just, rather than acting out of fear of punishment or failure.
