Verse 1.19 : Arjuna Vishada Yoga "The Grief of Arjuna"
Verse 19 of 47
“
The Translation
“That tumultuous sound shattered the hearts of the sons of Dhritarashtra, echoing through heaven and earth.”
Commentary & Insights
Sanjaya describes the psychological impact of the Pandavas' conch blast. The sound resounded through the earth and heavens, and literally 'shattered the hearts' (hṛdayāni vyadārayat) of Duryodhana and his brothers. Interestingly, the Kauravas' conch sound in verse 13 did not shatter the hearts of the Pandavas. This reveals the power of a clear conscience.
Practical Application
1
Notice if a feeling of guilt or anxiety is holding you back from acting righteously, and address the root cause of that fear.

1.19
स घोषो धार्तराष्ट्राणां हृदयानि व्यदारयत्
The sound did not affect the Pandavas because their minds are rooted in Truth. The Kauravas, being rooted in falsehood, are easily shaken, showing that fear is a product of ignorance and guilt.
