Verse 1.38 : Arjuna Vishada Yoga "The Grief of Arjuna"
Verse 38 of 47
“
The Translation
“Even if these men, whose minds are blinded by greed, see no defect in destroying a family or sin in treachery to friends,”
Commentary & Insights
Arjuna points out that the Kauravas are acting out of ignorance because their minds are overpowered by greed (lobhopahatacetasaḥ). They cannot see the sin in destroying their family or betraying their friends. Arjuna argues that because he and the Pandavas are wiser, they should not behave like the Kauravas.
Practical Application
1
Observe if greed or ambition is blinding you to the negative consequences of your actions on others today.

1.38
यद्यप्येते न पश्यन्ति लोभोपहतचेतसः
Duryodhana and his allies are driven by Rajasic greed, which blinds them to moral duties. Arjuna, however, is overwhelmed by Tamas (delusion), which makes him want to run away, showing that both sides are currently driven by lower states of mind.
