The Translation

“At that time, seeing the sons of Dhritarashtra arrayed against him and weapons ready to fly, Arjuna, whose chariot banner bore the crest of Hanuman, took up his bow and spoke these words to Krishna, O King.”

Commentary & Insights

Just as the missiles are about to fly, Arjuna lifts his bow, Gandiva, ready to shoot. He is referred to as Kapidhvaja (whose banner bears the emblem of Hanuman). Hanuman, the legendary devotee of Sri Rama, represents strength, devotion, and victory. Arjuna addresses Sri Krishna, his charioteer, asking him to move the chariot.
