“When the fully controlled mind remains established in the Self alone, free from all desires, at that time a person is said to be self-realized.”

यदा विनियतं चित्तमात्मन्येवावतिष्ठते
A disciplined mind is like water in a lake when there is no wind. The water is perfectly still and transparent, reflecting the sun clearly. The still mind reflects the light of the Atman without distortion.
