“Let a person elevate themselves by their own mind, and not degrade themselves. For the mind is the friend of the self, and the mind is also the enemy of the self.”

Human birth is a rare opportunity for liberation. We must use our discrimination (buddhi) to guide our mind out of the mud of material attractions. No one else—neither friends, relatives, nor gods—can free our mind for us; we must do it ourselves.
