Self-Reflection Prompts
- Why is trying to force your thoughts to stop instantly during meditation usually exhausting and unsuccessful? How does the 'step-by-step' approach help?
- What is the experience of sitting in absolute mental silence (*na kiñcid api cintayet*), even for just ten seconds?

6.25
शनैः शनैरुपरमेद् बुद्ध्या धृतिगृहीतया
The mind has been running after sensory objects for many lifetimes. You cannot stop it suddenly without breaking it. You must guide it gently, like training a young calf, showing it the sweetness of the Atman. Once it tastes this, it stops thinking of worldly objects.
