“Non-violence, equanimity, contentment, austerity, charity, fame, and infamy—these diverse qualities of living beings arise from Me alone.”

अहिंसा समता तुष्टिस्तपो दानं यशोऽयशः
All these qualities arise according to the past karma of the Jivas. The Lord is the provider of the results of karma, so they are said to arise from Him. Cultivating the positive qualities (sattva) leads to spiritual awakening, while the negative ones point to lessons to be learned.
