Self-Reflection Prompts
- Why does Krishna call Himself 'the gambling of the deceitful'? (Sages note: Krishna is warning that even the luck of the gambler or the skill of the cheat is powered by His laws, showing that we cannot hide any action from Him.) How does this affect your view of cause and effect?
- How is the capacity to put effort (*vyavasāyaḥ*) a gift of the Divine inside you rather than your own personal ego's pride?

10.36
द्यूतं छलयतामस्मि तेजस्तेजस्विनामहम्
The Lord is the power behind all actions. He is 'gambling' to show that in the acts of deception, His power is the baseline energy. He is victory in those who win, and the effort in those who strive. The ultimate reality is the non-dual baseline of all movements, virtuous and vicious.
