The Translation

“Among the Vedas I am the Sama Veda; among the demigods I am Indra; among the senses I am the mind; and in living beings I am consciousness.”

Commentary & Insights

Krishna moves from external cosmic objects to the internal elements of human experience—scripture, administration, psychology, and sentience itself.

Practical Application
1

Self-Reflection Prompts
  • Why is the mind (*manaḥ*) considered the chief of senses? How can we offer our thoughts as a temple to the Divine mind?
  • Consciousness (*cetanā*) is what allows you to read and understand these words. How does it feel to realize that this very capacity of awareness is God's direct energy inside you?
