Self-Reflection Prompts
- How is ignorance like darkness? You cannot fight darkness with a broom or a sword; you can only turn on the light. How does this apply to trying to fight bad habits and negative thoughts?
- The Lord says He lights this lamp from *within* our own heart (*ātma-bhāva-sthaḥ*). How does this emphasize that God is closer to us than our own breath?

10.11
तेषामेवानुकम्पार्थमहमज्ञानजं तमः
The lamp of wisdom is fed by the oil of devotion, kept burning by the breeze of spiritual practice, and protected by the glass of self-control. The Lord, residing as the witness (Sakshi) in the heart, removes the illusion of duality by revealing Himself as the non-dual Brahman.
