Verse 37 of 42
“
The Translation
“Among the descendants of Vrishni I am Vasudeva (Krishna); among the Pandavas I am Dhananjaya (Arjuna). Among the sages I am Vyasa; and among the wise poets I am Ushanas.”
Commentary & Insights
Krishna makes a deeply intimate statement, identifying Himself with the very speaker (Krishna), listener (Arjuna), recorder (Vyasa), and strategist (Ushanas) involved in this dialogue.
Practical Application
1
When collaborating with someone today, visualize the work as a single, shared flow of intelligence between you, rather than a competition between two egos.

Self-Reflection Prompts
- If Krishna is Vasudeva (the teacher) and also Dhananjaya (Arjuna, the student), how does this show that the dialogue of the Gita is actually the Divine talking to Himself within the human heart?
- How does it feel to know that your own sincere seeking (like Arjuna's) is a manifestation of the Divine energy inside you?

10.37
वृष्णीनां वासुदेवोऽस्मि पाण्डवानां धनञ्जयः
Vasudeva is Krishna Himself. Arjuna (Dhananjaya) is the closest friend. Vyasa is the compiler of the Vedas. Ushanas is Shukracharya, who possessed the Sanjivani Vidya (knowledge of reviving the dead). The Lord is present as the peak of knowledge in the sage, and the peak of valour in the warrior.
