The Translation

“The spirit (Purusha), seated in nature (Prakriti), experiences the qualities (gunas) born of nature. Attachment to these qualities is the cause of its birth in good and evil wombs.”

Commentary & Insights

Practical Application
1

Self-Reflection Prompts
  • How does 'attachment to qualities' (guṇa-saṅgaḥ) create future habits and bindings? How can we break these attachments in our daily lives?
  • If the soul itself is ever-pure, how can it take birth in 'good and evil wombs'? What is it that actually transmigrates?
