Self-Reflection Prompts
- Why does direct realization remove the binding power of karma, even if a person is active in the world (sarvathā vartamāno'pi)?
- How does this verse show that spiritual liberation is not about changing your external lifestyle (running away to a cave), but about changing your inner understanding?

13.24
य एवं वेत्ति पुरुषं प्रकृतिं च गुणैः सह
Knowing the distinction between Purusha and Prakriti means realizing that 'I am the actionless witness, and all actions are changes in the field.' This knowledge burns the seeds of past karma (samskaras). Therefore, even if they are active in their duties, they do not create new binding karma, and will not take a new body after death.
