“Learn from Me, O mighty-armed one, the five causes for the accomplishment of all actions, as declared in the Samkhya system.”

पञ्चैतानि महाबाहो कारणानि निबोध मे
Shankara comments that 'kṛtānte' means the end of action, which is Vedānta. Samkhya represents the path of knowledge where the categories of nature are analyzed. Krishna introduces this to show that the actionless Atman is completely separate from these five material factors.
