The Translation
“The four divisions of human society were created by Me according to divisions of quality and work. Although I am the creator of this system, know Me to be the non-doer and eternal.”

चातुर्वर्ण्यं मया सृष्टं गुणकर्मविभागशः
Shankara notes that the four varna divisions are based on the proportions of Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas in a person's nature. Although the Lord is the cause of this order through His Maya, He is not bound by it, as He has no desires.
