यं यं वापि स्मरन्भावं त्यजत्यन्ते कलेवरम् | तं तमेवैति कौन्तेय सदा तद्भावभावितः ||८-६||
yaṃ yaṃ vāpi smaranbhāvaṃ tyajatyante kalevaram . taṃ tamevaiti kaunteya sadā tadbhāvabhāvitaḥ ||8-6||

The Translation

“Whatever state of being one remembers when quitting the body, O son of Kunti, that state alone one attains, being constantly absorbed in that thought.”

Commentary & Insights

Krishna explains the law of mental focus during transitions: whatever state of being a person remembers at the end of life, that state they reach, because they have been constantly absorbed in it.
