“Fire, light, day, the bright fortnight, the six months of the northern solstice—departing at these times, knowers of Brahman go to Brahman.”

अग्निर्जोतिरहः शुक्लः षण्मासा उत्तरायणम्
These terms (fire, light, day, etc.) are not physical times but represent the presiding deities of light who guide the soul of the karma-yogi or upasaka. The soul is led step-by-step to the plane of Brahma, from where they achieve final liberation at the end of the kalpa (Krama Mukti).
