The Translation
“The faith of each person is in accordance with their natural character, O Bharata. A person is made of their faith; whatever their faith is, that indeed they are.”

सत्त्वानुरूपा सर्वस्य श्रद्धा भवति भारत
Shankara explains that 'sattva' here refers to the internal organ (antahkarana) containing latent impressions. The quality of a person's faith corresponds to the purity of their mind. Since a person acts in accordance with their faith, they become identical to the object and nature of their belief.
