The Translation
“Sacrifice which is offered contrary to scriptural rules, without distribution of food, without sacred chants, without gifts to priests, and devoid of faith, is declared to be in the mode of ignorance (Tamasic).”

Krishna describes Tamasic sacrifice. In ancient times, a sacrifice performed without distributing food, without sacred chants (mantras), and without respect was considered a chaotic act that disturbed the social and spiritual harmony.

विधिहीनमसृष्टान्नं मन्त्रहीनमदक्षिणम्
Shankara explains that a Tamasic sacrifice is performed with a cold, uncaring attitude. There is no devotion, no proper pronunciation of mantras, and no generosity toward the participants or priests. It is an empty shell of a ritual that produces only mental dullness.
