The Translation

“Food that is stale, tasteless, putrid, rotten, left-over, and impure is dear to those in the mode of ignorance (Tamasic).”

Commentary & Insights

Krishna describes Tamasic foods, which are dear to those in the mode of ignorance (Tamas). In Vedic hygiene and food preparation, eating stale, decomposed, or unclean food was seen as a cause of mental darkness and physical decline.

Practical Application
1

Avoid eating old, stale, or highly processed leftovers, choosing instead fresh, alive food that brings energy.
