The Translation

“For I am the only enjoyer and lord of all sacrifices. However, they do not recognize Me in truth, and therefore they fall back into the cycle of rebirth.”

Commentary & Insights

Krishna clarifies why indirect worship is limited. Without understanding the ultimate unity of consciousness, seekers remain bound to the limitations of the specific entities they worship.

Practical Application

Self-Reflection Prompts
  • How does focusing on a limited 'middleman' (like a demigod or worldly boss) prevent us from connecting directly with the ultimate source?
  • What does it mean to know the Divine 'in truth' (*tattvena*) rather than as a dogma or physical image?
