ब्रह्मणो हि प्रतिष्ठाहममृतस्याव्ययस्य च
Shankara comments that 'Brahman' here refers to the conditioned Brahman, and Krishna (as the embodiment of Pure Consciousness/Atman) is its basis. Alternatively, Brahman means the supreme Self, and Krishna is identical with it. He is the repository of dharma and bliss.
