The Translation

“Meeting death when Rajas is predominant, one is born among those attached to action. Similarly, dying in Tamas, one is born in the wombs of the senseless (ignorant or animal species).”

Commentary & Insights

Krishna explains the destinations of those who die under the influence of the lower two modes, Rajas and Tamas, showing that our consciousness gravitates to its habituated level.

Practical Application
1

Break any negative loop of anger or laziness immediately today: do not let your mind dwell in lower frequencies for hours.

Self-Reflection Prompts
  • How does the law of psychological gravity ('we go where our mind is attached') explain the cycle of rebirth?
  • If dying in Tamas leads to 'wombs of the senseless' (mūḍha-yoniṣu), how can we protect ourselves and our loved ones from slipping into states of dark neglect and mental stupor?
