The Translation
“Having transcended these three modes associated with the physical body, the embodied soul is freed from the cycle of birth, death, old age, and pain, and attains immortality.”

गुणानेतानतीत्य त्रीन्देही देहसमुद्भवान्
Shankara explains that transcending the modes means realizing the Self as completely distinct from the intellect, mind, and body. Such a person is a Jivanmukta (liberated while alive) who enjoys the immortal nature of Brahman even before the fall of the body.
