Self-Reflection Prompts
- The senses are called 'gates' (dvāreṣu). What kind of information are you letting through your gates (social media, television, conversations) during a typical day? How does this affect your level of Sattva?
- How does the 'light of clarity' (prakāśaḥ) feel physically and mentally when you wake up fresh after a good, clean night?

14.11
सर्वद्वारेषु देहेऽस्मिन्प्रकाश उपजायते
The 'gates' are the organs of perception like eyes and ears. When Sattva increases, these organs function with maximum clarity and joy. The intellect easily understands complex truths and remains free from confusion. This state of brightness is the symptom of predominant Sattva.
