“Greater is the struggle of those whose minds are attached to the Unmanifest; for the path of the Unmanifest is difficult for embodied beings to attain.”

The path of the formless requires complete renunciation of all actions and identification with the body. For those who still feel 'I am this body', this path is extremely painful and full of obstacles. One must first purify the mind through selfless work (Karma Yoga) and devotion before formless meditation becomes natural.
