Verse 9 of 20
“
The Translation
“If you are unable to fix your mind steadily on Me, then, O Dhananjaya, seek to reach Me by the yoga of constant practice.”
Commentary & Insights
Understanding that instant concentration is difficult, Krishna offers a realistic alternative: the yoga of constant, repetitive practice (abhyāsa).
Practical Application
1
When you catch your mind wandering or scrolling today, gently bring your focus back to your work without any self-criticism, treating it as a practice rep.

Self-Reflection Prompts
- Why is the mind so restless? How does the concept of 'constant practice' (abhyāsa) change our attitude toward our meditation distractions?
- Arjuna is addressed as Dhananjaya (conqueror of wealth). How does this title remind him of his capacity to conquer his own inner wealth (the mind)?

12.9
अथ चित्तं समाधातुं न शक्नोषि मयि स्थिरम्
Abhyasa is the practice of repeatedly withdrawing the mind from all worldly objects and fixing it on a single point (the Self or the Lord's form). By doing this daily, the mind's old habits (samskaras) are weakened, and it becomes steady.
