The Translation
“The Supreme Lord said: Both the renunciation of action and the yoga of action lead to the supreme goal. But of the two, Karma Yoga is superior to the renunciation of action.”

श्रीभगवानुवाच
Shankara maintains that for a person who has already realized the Self, renunciation of all action is the only natural state. However, for a beginner or an unpurified seeker like Arjuna, Karma Yoga is far superior because trying to sit still without working will only create mental turbulence.
