“Beset with immense anxieties that end only with death, they hold sensory gratification as their ultimate goal, convinced that 'this is all.'”

Krishna highlights the inner torment of the demoniac lifestyle. While they may appear wealthy, successful, and powerful on the outside, their internal state is one of chronic instability and fear, contrasting sharply with the peace (śānti) of the yogi.

चिन्तामपरिमेयां च प्रलयान्तामुपाश्रिताः
Shankara comments that because they have no faith in a life beyond or in the Self, their worries are endless. They think that eating, drinking, and sensory pleasures are the only purpose of life. This conviction keeps them locked in mental agony until their breath leaves them.
